Vale Bob Foster DFC
RAF Battle of Britain Hurricane pilot and RAF 54 Squadron Darwin Spitfire ace W/C Robert William "Bob" Foster DFC passed away aged 94 on the 30th July 2014. He became one of the few "aces" of the air war over Australia's Top End and was the first Spitfire pilot to down a Japanese aircraft in the Pacific. After the war he became chairman of the Battle of Britain Fighter Association and a life vice-president of The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust. He wrote his autobiography "Tally Ho" in 2009 and is survived by his German wife Kaethe.
